FAQs

Do I need a certified electrician or grid approval to install this system?

Absolutely not. All our microinverters (both Anker and Sonnex series) are pre-configured to strictly comply with the German VDE-AR-N 4105 standard, limited to an 800W output (with a 1-click OTA downgrade to 600W available via the App). Equipped with a standard Schuko plug, the system is 100% Plug & Play. The only administrative requirement is a free, 5-minute online registration in the Marktstammdatenregister (MaStR) after your physical setup is complete.

What is the realistic ROI (Payback Period) for a system with storage?

This depends on your local electricity rates and solar yield. Using Germany's average €0.35/kWh as a baseline: A pure solar setup typically pays for itself in 3-4 years, but limits your self-consumption rate to 30-40%. By integrating our modular storage, your self-consumption skyrockets to over 80%. While the initial CapEx is higher, leveraging the storage for peak-valley arbitrage (especially with dynamic tariffs like Tibber) typically brings the absolute ROI of the complete system down to 4.5 - 5.5 years. After that, it is pure profit.

I am an apartment tenant (Mieter). Do I need my landlord's permission, and what happens when my lease ends?

With the implementation of the German Solarpaket 1, landlords can no longer unreasonably block balcony solar installations. For rental properties, we specifically engineered the Sonnex Flexible Series. Weighing less than 3kg per panel, they are mounted using industrial-grade Velcro straps or heavy-duty zip ties. Zero drilling, zero facade damage. When you move out, simply cut the ties and pack the system in your trunk.

Why do you offer a bundle mixing an Anker microinverter with Sonnex solar panels? Are they fully compatible?

This is our "Golden Arbitrage Bundle," designed for users who want maximum performance without the brand premium. The microinverter is the brain of the system; keeping Anker ensures you get industry-leading MPPT algorithms and a flawless App ecosystem. Solar panels are mature physical assets; by using Sonnex, we strip away the unnecessary markup. Both utilize industry-standard MC4 connectors, ensuring 100% hardware compatibility. You get flagship computing power combined with wholesale generation costs.

Are the storage batteries useless during winter or cloudy weeks with low solar yield?

Not at all. Our advanced control systems feature bi-directional power flow. During low-yield winter months, if you are on a dynamic electricity tariff, you can configure the system to charge the battery directly from the grid during off-peak night hours (when prices are lowest or even negative), and discharge during peak evening hours. It ceases to be just a solar battery and functions as your personal grid-hedging tool.
